| | | This English
Willow ware Platter was shattered into numerous shards and was an excellent example
of a decorative or complete restoration. All the pieces were meticulously cleaned
and the exposed joins consolidated with a 10% solution of Acryloid B72 in ethanol
prior to reconstruction with a poly vinyl acetate adhesive. Large losses and missing
areas were compensated with Epotek 301 epoxy bulked to make a putty and tinted
to match the ground color. Small losses and the joins were compensated with a
fine grade model putty and smoothed to match the original surfaces. Joins and
losses were then cold glazed with Acryloid B72 thinned with toluene and applied
with an airbrush. Details of the pattern were painstakingly retouched to match
the original design and patterns. Even on close inspection this repair is undetectable. |
